Job Title: FinOps Consultant

Role Description

Overview

The role is to manage, deliver and develop high end FinOps consultancy services into enterprise organisations especially in the key areas of Cloud migration, management, optimisation and FinOps enablement/culture.

The FinOps Consultant takes a leading role in performing a variety of cloud cost management and FinOps enablement related tasks working across engineering, architectural, financial, and commercial client areas. 

The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK, be a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years and be able to attain UK Government SC Clearance.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Licensing Consultant include:

Delivery

  • Proactively manage and deliver services to clients ensuring a consistently excellent level of service
  • Ensure client objectives are met and that the client derives the best possible value from their cloud environments
  • Develop client engagement practices including, but not limited to, technical solutions, process and project management, FinOps management and wider FinOps enablement
  • Support and advise on commercial discussions and deal preparation strategy and tactics
  • Compile accurate Usage reports and executive reporting from a variety of data sources that may be available.
  • Identify, document, report opportunities, risks, and associated remediation options
  • Assist clients with new project cost conscious architecture designs, forecasting of workloads (existing and new) and assist with FinOps related queries.
  • Evangelise FinOps and GreenOps in everything we do.
  • Ensure customer successes are logged and promoted both within the client’s organisation and also logged within Synyega
  • Ensure that the Synyega team develop and maintain key client relationships 

Improvement & Business Development

  • Maintain up to date industry knowledge of cloud vendor technologies, policies and practices
  • Assist with the training and development of FinOps support staff.
  • Operate as part of the Synyega team, contributing to client engagement planning and delivery
  • Support sales activities for new and existing customer accounts for example by providing cloud vendor subject matter expertise
  • Contribute to the development and on-going improvement of FinOps related processes to ensure Synyega services are delivered to a high standard, are efficient and cost/resource effective
  • Define, maintain, and improve Synyega documentation, report templates, delivery standards and working practices across the team

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • In depth FinOps working knowledge and experience, minimum of 5 years, ideally gained from a cloud vendor, reseller, consultancy, or end user environment.
  • Consider themselves a cloud Specialist on at least one top tier vendor; Microsoft, AWS, GCP, Oracle, IBM
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Cloud FinOps data handling and analysis.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience of data centre and cloud computing environments.
  • Team Player with individual drive and tenacity.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification
  • Minimum of One cloud practitioner level certification

Desirable:

  • Additional cloud qualifications, preferably solution’s architecture.
  • FinOps Professional Certification
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Data handling and analysis experience gained from a FinOps environment.
  • Experience of specific FinOps tools (e.g., Flexera, Cloudability, Cloudhealth, Anodot, Netapp).
  • Wider cloud vendor consulting experience 
  • ITAM experience and data handling experience.

Qualifications/Experience

  • University degree or similar/equivalent combination of studies and experience.
  • You may have gained relevant experience from a variety of backgrounds and for the right person we will provide training and support to help you become successful in this role.

Languages

  • English: excellent verbal and written skills are essential.
  • EU languages desirable (but not essential) such as: German, Italian, French, Spanish.
