Role Description
Overview
As a growing small business we are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Tooling Consultant to drive the delivery of high impact tooling solutions across IT Asset Management (ITAM), FinOps, and GreenOps domains. This is a technical and client-facing role where you'll act as the bridge between customer needs and technical delivery—owning customer relationships, designing and implementing tool solutions, and ensuring technical and business alignment.
The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK, be a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years and be able to attain UK Government SC Clearance.
Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Relationship Ownership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, understanding their business and technical objectives.
- Lead workshops, demos, and technical discussions to assess customer needs and align solutions accordingly.
- Build trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for growth.
Tooling Strategy & Implementation
- Design, configure, and deploy tooling solutions across ITAM, FinOps, and GreenOps platforms.
- Evaluate and recommend tools based on client requirements (e.g., ServiceNow, Snow, Apptio, Flexera, CloudHealth, Cloudability).
- Drive integration with other enterprise systems and data sources (e.g., CMDBs, cloud platforms, procurement systems).
Technical & Data Management
- Develop and maintain scripts, queries, dashboards, and reports using tools like SQL, Python, Power BI, or other relevant analytics platforms.
- Analyse large datasets to extract actionable insights related to cost optimisation, asset utilization, and environmental impact.
- Ensure data integrity, normalisation, and compliance with data governance standards.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Author high-quality technical documentation, user guides, architecture diagrams, and runbooks for clients and internal teams.
- Contribute to internal knowledge bases and best practice repositories.
Project & Team Leadership
- Lead tooling projects from discovery to delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Mentor and support junior consultants and collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud architects, business analysts, and service delivery managers.

Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience in a tooling or consulting role with a focus on ITAM, FinOps, or GreenOps domains.
- Certifications in relevant tools (e.g Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera)
- Experience implementing key ITAM tools in complex customer environments (especially ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera).
- Strong understanding of licensing, cloud cost optimisation, and sustainability practices in IT.
- Proficiency in data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead client relationships and translate complex requirements into practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation.
- Familiarity with ITIL, ISO standards, or other best practice frameworks is a plus.
Desirable:
- Experience working in or with large enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and sustainability metrics (carbon footprint, energy consumption).
Languages
- English: excellent verbal and written skills are essential.
- EU languages desirable (but not essential) such as: German, Italian, French, Spanish.
