Here’s a quick roundup of some of the recent changes from Microsoft to help you stay up to date.

Copilot for Microsoft 365 expands again

Microsoft have again added new base licenses on to which you can add the Copilot for Microsoft 365 add-on. The whole list of eligible licenses is currently:

  • Microsoft 365 Apps for Business
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise
  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium
  • Microsoft 365 E3/E5
  • Microsoft 365 A3/A5
  • Microsoft 365 F1/F3
  • Office 365 E1/E3
  • Office 365 A3/A5
  • Office 365 F3
  • Exchange Online
  • SharePoint Online
  • OneDrive for Business
  • Microsoft Clipchamp
  • Microsoft Teams EEA/Enterprise/Essentials
  • Planner Plan 1

  • Visio Online

 

New definition of an External User

In an effort to keep “pace with the changing needs of…customers” Microsoft have added additional language to the definition of an External User for the following products:

  • Advanced Threat Analytics
  • Azure DevOps Server
  • Dynamics 365
  • Exchange Server
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Office 365 Services that include Yammer
  • Office for the web
  • Office Servers
  • OneDrive for Business
  • Project Server
  • SharePoint Online
  • SharePoint Server
  • Skype for Business Server
  • SQL Server
  • System Center Data Protection Manager/Protection, System Center Orchestrator/Operations Manager/Service Manager
  • Windows Multipoint Server
  • Windows Server

 

The current definition is:

"External Users refers to users that are not employees, onsite contractors or onsite agents of Customer or its Affiliates”

For agreements signed from October 1, 2024, onward, the new definition will be for users that are not:

(a) employees of Customer or its Affiliates

(b) contractors or agents that typically work for Customer or its Affiliates for more than 30 hours on average per week

(c) contractors or agents that typically work onsite for Customer or its Affiliates on each working day.

Microsoft Product Terms: July 2024

It’s the first month of the new Microsoft Financial Year but there are a few changes to the Product Terms this month.

  • Several new security products including “Entra Suite” and “Secure Access Essentials” were added to the Microsoft 365 family
  • A new product, Dynamics 365 Contact Center, was added
  • Minimum purchase requirements for additional database capacity were added
  • A new add-on for Windows 365 “Cross Region Disaster Recovery (DR)” appeared too
